MINI TOUR DE FRANCE RESULTS15 members of Spalding Cycling Club took part in a Mini Tour de France promotion event. The event organised by Spalding CC, British Cycling and the Tour De France promotors was aimed at raising the profile of the Tour De France starting in London on Saturday 7th July.
The Tour de France is the biggest annual sporting event in the world, attracting close to 2 billion TV viewers and over 15 million people watch the race by the road side. 54 members from Spalding CC and Boston Wheelers will be making the trip to London on July 7th to watch the Grand Depart a 7.9km prologue time trial around some of London's most famous sites.
The Spalding Mini tour involved 3 races. A prologue Time Trial, a Sprint race and a King of the Hill. Time were recorded for each event and an overall winner was established with the lowest time for all 3 events.
The overall winner of the competition was Under 14 year old James Walbrin with a total time of 17mins 12 seconds. In Second place and 1st female was Under 14 Vanessa Sacks total time 17min 44sec. 3rd place went to Under 12 Sam Bently who was lying in 5th place before the King of the hill race but dug into his reserve to ride an impressive final stage with a total time of 17mins 52sec.

All riders recieved a Tour De France Yellow T-shirts. After the final event the club cook Shane Norton prepared a BBQ. Spalding Go-ride members will be in action again this Wednesday at Barkstone Heath road race circuit. There will be no Go-ride on July 7th because of the Tour De France London visit.
