Milton Keynes Road RacesFour of Spalding Cycling Clubs best young riders made the trip over to Milton Keynes Bowl for the first in a series of three cycle road races.
Young Matt Ellis aged 8 was the first to race in the Under 10’s age category. Matt held is own in a strong field to finish a very respectable 4th place just missing out on 3rd by a wheels length.
Next to ride was 10 year old Reece Moradkhan, who despite missing the winning break battled hard for the 10km race to finish in 8th place.
Young Harry Bellars lined up next again with a very strong field with riders from all over the Eastern and East Midlands region. Harry rode in the lead group for the first half of the race, and rode well to finish in 4th place some 30 seconds in front of the 5th place rider.
Last Off was Tom Neal. Tom only started racing last May and is already showing he has what it takes to go to the very top in Cycling. Tom was lined up in the Under 16’s with riders from the Eastern Olympic Development squad. Tom was not intimidated by the strong field and constantly attacked to get away from the lead group. This obviously took it toll on Tom and on lap 10 he started to drop off the lead group. However Tom dug deep and within 5 laps he was back up with the leaders to contest the sprint to the line on the final lap to finish in 12th
Club Coach Adam Ellis also took a return to Road Racing. Adam rode well keeping in the lead group to take 16th in the final sprint.
